Labspace Studio | Calling Performance Participants for BLINDNESS
Calls for participation: Ontario | 03/11/2010 - 18:00
Tibet suffers one of the highest rates of blindness in the world.
Due to its remote geography, even the most affordable solutions
to this problem are simply not available. A simple surgery that
costs as little as $50 can fully restore vision to somebody in as
little as 30 minutes.
On Thursday, March 11th, the day after Tibetans National
Uprising Day, Labspace Studio will present BLINDNESS, an
evening of Tibetan food and international musicians, all in
complete darkness. 100% of proceeds raised will go to sponsor a
micro-surgical eye camp in a rural region of Tibet.
Leading up to this event, Labspace Studio will embark on a
performance outreach project. We are asking willing artists to
devote 1 hour of their time to sit peacefully (alone or with a
group) on a busy street corner blindfolded. Artists will be
provided with their own screen-printed blindfolds and a stack of
information leaflets.
Interested participants are asked to contact Laura at
info [at] labspacestudio [dot] com for more details.
BLINDNESS is a fundraising initiative. As such artists will not be
compensated financially for their participation. However photo
documentation will be provided to those who are able to sit with
us at our key locations. A video will also be created that will
include the names of all performers.
Please join us in this cause for sight.
Sincerely,
Labspace Studio
