Special Events Coordinator – Contract Position

Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography is a non-profit, artist-run centre committed to the advancement of contemporary Canadian photography. We support the work of artists by: programming exhibitions, producing publications, offering an education program for adults and young people, hosting residencies and providing production facilities for members and community groups.

Working with the Director and the Special Events Committee, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for growing and improving Gallery 44’s fundraising event(s).

Responsibilities:

* Coordinate and oversee the production of events, including prioritizing and scheduling work, monitoring the production budget, organizing the work flow, event set-ups and strikes, troubleshooting during event.
* Secure sponsors, cash and in-kind donations of prizes, and encourage community participation.
* Coordinate volunteers and ensure they remain on strategy.
* Obtain liquor permit and lottery license for event.

The ideal candidate will have experience in planning and executing fundraising and special events and have a strong interest in photography and the arts. Strong organization skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple and simultaneous activities to meet deadlines are required. Excellent verbal and communication and interpersonal skills are required to deal with a variety of people, artists, collectors and donors.

Position Type: Part-time, 2 month contract from February 22 to April 23 (event April 16)

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
