Mandate
RAIQ Mandate
Founded in 2005, The Regroupement des arts interdisciplinaires du Québec is a non-profit organization that brings together and represents artists, collectives, companies , and presenters working in interdisciplinary arts practices in Quebec. The RAIQ has as its mandate to defend the interests of arts professionals and to improve the socio-economic conditions of its members. By initiating activities that support research and experimentation such as conferences, events, workshops, professional development sessions and networking activities the RAIQ is actively involved in the advancement of an awareness and practice of inter-arts across Quebec. In the longer term, the RAIQ wishes to make a significant contribution to the cultural sector by expanding opportunities for exchange and collaboration between the various arts sectors within Quebec and beyond, by increasing public consciousness of these emerging art forms, and finally, by obtaining a deserved recognition, and acknowledgment, by various public powers and agencies of the existence of interdisciplinary art forms.
Interdisciplinary Arts
A definition of interdisciplinary arts was presented and adopted at the Assembly of Interdisciplinary Arts Professionals and Practitioners on February 24, 2005. This definition reads as follows: an artistic practice that integrates the skills and modes of thought deriving from two or more artistic (and non-artistic) disciplines – where these various languages and vocabularies are in inter-relation.
